I cannot speak for the rest of the world, but I do know a little bit about how Germans view Americans. I recently took a vacation there, and my friend and I met many people and had many interesting conversations in many bars. The question of America's world image came up many times, and everyone we talked to stated that American themselves were good people. They like us for who we are, they love our music, our culture, our innovations.... But they hate our government. They think that Bush is a lying scumbag, and they believe that we have become disconnected from our government, that we believe their lies, that we have become blind participants in a worldwide quest for domination. I heard the term 'imperialism' come from the mouths of many a college student, and I cannot say that I disagree. Americans HAVE become disconnected from their government - We are becoming extremely apathetic, and it is going to take a strong shock to wake us from our stupor. I tend to think that the rest of the world feels the same way, as wherever you go in the world, with the exception of a few fundamentalist Muslim countries, American culture, including our music, food, and even American sayings (OK) can be found. People like us, but they don't like our government's policies, and they HATE Bush.

lol we already know the rest of the world hates us. They probably think we are obnoxious, spoiled, wasteful, whats that stuff the Virginia tech shooter was ranting about? they probably think we are all of those bad things, but that's just how we are portrayed and what the world somehow wants us to be... in the words of tony montana, so they can point their fingers and say 'thats the bad guy' haha blame America, yes we're "rich" (even our poor) and we take basic luxuries forgranted but guess what... we dont care what the rest of the world thinks... we can afford to be that arrogant. i can only hope that when these other nationalities actually do get to meet some americans that they can see we are the same as them pretty much. except i often wonder if the rest of the world feels sorry for black americans... but then again they probably hate us all equally...

Well, the US has been made fun of by other countries like the UK and Europe for because of the short history and disgraceful way of collecting armies(in history).
Boston massacre: Said that the British has attacked hundreds of innocent civillians in middle of the day when only five gangsters were killed during midnight. They attacked with a knife so there was no choice. The US admitted this after the war was over.
In the world war, this country have only entered the war when the war was about to be over. Result: Gained victory very easily thanks to other countries.

i'm particular the only reason you asked this question grew to become into to reason a stir. it incredibly is arbitrary to paint anybody with the comparable brush. There are good and undesirable in all countries alongside with Britain. How might you like it as an occasion, if somebody asked you why you have allowed your united states of america to be taken different via third be conscious immigrants? that's the version, in usa, you're welcomed as an immigrant yet you will grow to be an American first and optimum. that's not the main important strongest united states of america in the international via twist of fate.

In general, people love Native Americans worldwide. I think Americans are basically good people. But our Government needs help! If only they would be REAL Christians or Mormons. I'll stick to being Native and following the Red Road........

I think that American's think the world hates us, but I would say from the millions of immigrants coming in from our southern borders, that perception is wrong.

I think that the media thinks that Europe hates us, and since we always looks at Europe as being culturally more advanced than ourselves, we begin to hate ourselves as well. In reality, most of the world still sees us as the land of opportunity, and I only wish we would stop fighting amongst ourselves and start acting like the "greatest country on earth."

I think we're viewed as self-righteous, useless eaters. That's how I view us as a whole. That's how our own media portays us. As individuals, it's a totally different story.
