That depends on who's doing the wish granting and their capabilities. Is this a genie, or something like 'Make-A-Wish'...?

If I were to go with a whopper of a genie-type wish, it would be that everyone find permanent happiness. You can't be happy and negative at the same time, maybe that would solve everything with the masses.

If it's a 'Make-A-Wish' type wish; I would make sure my son had everything material he needed and loved ones near him to help him grow up. (He's 7.) But if I didn't have a son and I could be selfish with my one wish? An awesome night in bed with the film actor I have the hots for. (grin)
