Hi,

I just moved form chicago to boston for "work". It is startup with 2 people. I find it hard to meet people at bars and being so lonely is starting to affect me. What do you recommend?

Thanks
A

Hi A, Why don't you try coffee shop instead. Or if you have a special hobby, join a group/club that has that same interest: Sierra Club for hiking; Audubon Society for birdwatching; etc. Whatever you do, you are probably going to have to open your mouth first and hope the person responds positively. Keep trying until you find someone.

First of all, don't depend on bars! Boston is a GREAT city, with tons of stuff to do -- so go out and do! Go sightseeing and while you are out, don't forget to smile and say Hello -- a lot. If you meet someone at the same museum or show, you already have something in common!

When you do meet someone, remember most people LOVE to talk about themselves, so just ask them about themselves. Nothing too personal, just things like where they grew up, do they have pets, what other interests they have. And LISTEN to what they say -- you can make good friends by BEING a good friend.

The Boston Museum of Science is fabulous and the Boston Aquarium is awesome! Have fun!

honestly, if u arent freaked out by the idea, you can look up people in your area on myspace. my boyfriend and i recently moved to California from Ohio (big difference) but his closest friend here he met thru myspace, and we've met people thru him. work is usually the best place to meet people but if it's only a 2 people thing, that might not work out so well.... i dont really know, the people i have met are thru work or thru my b/f
