Why doesn't most young people appreciate classical music?

Music of this generation likes simple music with catchy courses or the hottest beats to party to.

Classical music is much more complex work that few are able to comprehend or even care for.

First off, I do like classical music.

But in my case, like in our school, I think what makes classical music a bit boring is it's technicality. It takes work to understand this all.

Another reason probably has to do with lyrics. Classical music does not usually contain lyrics, and today, they seem to play a big part in the youth's appreciation of music. Youth understand that there is a deeper meaning to these lyrics, and it makes them special

lt's the MTV generation. They are more atuned to the sexy voices and sexy movements of their favorite singers. The music masters do have a tough competition with that.
l think the parents can influence their kids while young. Too bad if the parents don't appreciate the classics themselves.

I don't think they are taught about it in the schools. The schools need more music appreciation classes.

I for one, like classical music, among other forms of music.

I took piano lessons. That helped me understand more about music. and the schools used to teach more about music when I went to school.

well i'm 18 and i loooooove classical, actually most of my music collection is of classical. i also love frank sinatra's music like heaps! but i'm an all rounder, i do like a bit of everything when it comes to music. even country music is something i dont really listen to but i like kenny chesney and rascal flatts. anyways, sorry for boring you, have a good day! ; )

I love classical music its relaxing and intriguing but all of my friends make fun of me for it I think it is because it is old and uncool its the opposite of rap and xcore rock

The culture. Music like everything else comes and goes with fads. I have no doubt that someday it will return to that, and someday jazz, etc etc.

It's because of that rap/RNB crap they listen to. It brainwashes them. Honestly, I am 12 and i listen to classical music. I told them once, and they all just gave me this "look" and said, "You're retarded".
