Having kids always requires great sacrifice. It might be financial, if you decide to forgo your career. It certainly will take a great deal of your time and efforts. It is not for everyone. There is lots of heartache in being a parent, and much more blessing. Make the right choice for you, don't listen to anyone else. And you can have kids and be rich! The power of "and" versus either or.

Who says that having kids makes you poor or that you are poor if you have kids.
My wife and I have a 5 year old son and twin daughters on the way and we are far from poor.
We work hard, we save our money and make smart financial decisions.

Why can't i have kids AND be rich?
Obviously, the latter. It's bad enough being poor let alone having kids on top of that.

I'd prefer to have money, be rich, and then have kids. You never said we couldn't have kids if we were rich.

Both.
Work hard in your early 20s-30s and have kids when you've saved enough cash to afford to start a family.
