Yes. It's normal for guinea pigs to squeak, mine squeaks non stop lol. As long as you give him all the attention he needs, he will be fine on his own.
But if you do decide to get another guinea pig, obviously make sure it's another male!

Imagine you were alone on a planet with a friendly giant that's nice to you and give you plenty of food and care. It's a good deal, but wouldn't you want another human being with whom you can effectively communicate? Wouldn't it be nice to have another person around that you can share a normal human life with?
Most people feel this way because humans are social creatures. We live happiest and thrive most when we aren't alone. Guinea pigs, which naturally congregate into herds, are the same way. Sure, they can be fine on their own, but (in my experience from increasing my own numbers from a single piggy), they're more active and more "talkative" when they have at least one other guinea pig. And this is true despite the fact that my girls fought tooth-and-nail when I first introduced them.
Given that my original girl began popcorning and coo-ing more often upon having a "friend," I would also surmise that having company also has made her much more content with her surroundings.

He sould be ok on his own, but as with all creatures they like to have a friend around! I am a gerbil owner and I know for gerbils they need to be kept in pairs! I have not read anything that says that about guinea pigs.
hope this helps!

most people i know keep their males on their own only putting them in with a girl for breeding. most people that do this is because males can often fight amongst themselves for dominance. I'm not saying they have to be kept alone, just that it can be tricky keeping them together or introducing a new one to another one with an established territory (which yours will probably have).
in terms of the squeaking he's just talking to you as most Guinea pigs will, there quite vocal little guys.

ive had a lot of guinea pigs in my time and i know for one thing that guinea pigs are very sociable animals and they love company.they squeal because they miss you when you go out and theyre very excited whenever you return so they squeal. try this, unwrap a favorite treat in front of your guinea pig and see if he doesnt go nuts by your wrinkling the paper.mine used to squeal like crazy. rubberstampr

i did. he was happy for the 3 yrs i had him. if he gives high pitched squeals when u come to him, he's greeting you. spend lots of time w/him, love him and play w/him, n he'll be fine. You're actually better off having him by himself, as having another boar would cause him gr8 stress even if there are no sows around.

He's fine. He''ll squeal when he hears or sees you because he wants to be with you or be fed. They are social creatures but if they haven't got another pig as company you will become his family.
Lots of love and attention will keep him happy.
