No matter how serious the topic, I get about 40-50% smart a@@ answers or derogatory comments.

What is your percentage?

I note that your questions tend to be thought-provoking, but nebulous or asking for an opinion. I try to answer most questions seriously, but then I generally stick to the Science & Math category. If you want more serious answers, you might ask questions that apply to natural processes.
Asking for opinions only leads to trouble, in my experience.

So, in the science section, most of them- unless the asker is really "asking for it." Here, I'd hope at least half.

i imagine it has to do with who's on on the time and what class your in. i ought to assert fifty 5% and that is guessing. The repeats repeatedly are not any more needed.after I form out a question I examine those that are similar or some were requested formerly so i do not ask that query back after someone already has.

Around 75% are serious. It depends where you ask the question. If you ask it in sports, you are more likely to get a more serious answer than if you ask one in Polls and Surveys.

If the question is serious I usually answer with a sincere reply. But if not, then....I either don't answer or I answer with whatever is on my mind at that moment. Usually sarcasm.

But for the most part my answers are sincere.
