Let's see, how do I say this.
If you apply for a job at the "local corner gas station" - should you be screened for a drug test? Who's going to give it to you? What company? What medical association? Does this mean you're on welfare? Nope. hmm.
If you apply for a job at a nuclear site, you should probably expect one. You might be on welfare when you apply, but if you have the right credentials (and it doesn't always have to be on paper! - that's one thing people forget) you just might get that job!
There are people who abuse the system and that's not right. But you also have to look at the people who have circumstances that welfare Has helped them out & that they're trying their hardest to get back "on their feet".
Just trying to say, look at it from all points of view, not from a tunnel.
Personally, I have never been on one side or the other.

i dont believe your first statement is correct. I know a lot of companies require a drug test, but I doubt if most do. I have never worked anywhere that does that. besides people would just find a way around it.

Most jobs don't require a drug screening, and what does that have to do with welfare recipients? When they apply for a job they can be screened.

Sure why not... I would like to see a copay for those on DSHS especially in the ER room.... even if it is only $5 out of their pocket. I am tired of hearing "I have a migraine, I need a narcotic shot" and "my baby has a stuffy nose" AARGH!

That is a fantastic idea that will never happen because it makes sense. I wonder how long it would be before somebody cried Discrimination.

Of course it is, anyone who applies for a certain type of job should be tested, whether on welfare or not!
