I guess that would depend on your definition of dumb. Either way you can't lump ALL teachers into the same category and call them ALL dumb.
Some teachers are undoubtedly more intelligent than others, and some are probably more passionate about their job than others. But all of them have to have at least some formal education. Most schools require higher education of some degree, along with teaching credentials which include testing in various subject areas. So whether or not the teacher you have appears dumb, he/she was at least able to get that far.

Considering the fact that teachers need a Master's Degree, I think you have picked the wrong word.
Dumb NO, Poor teachers YES
Dumb NO, Not good in certain subjects YES
Dumb NO, Make honest mistakes YES
Dumb NO, Make dump mistakes YES
and the list goes on ....

It depends on the individual teacher. I hope that my professional degrees have allowed me to be academically intelligent and that my real-world experiences allow me to be "street smart" as well with common sense. I have interacted with some teachers who lack in one of those areas and it makes a world of difference. I do not believe any degreed and certified teacher would specifically be "dumb" per se, as they did have to earn both the degree and pass the certification exam; however, they may lack in some areas.
To answer your question -- some may be, but certainly not all.

certainly not!!
there are what you would call good and bad teachers. teachers are there to cater and provide best practice to students to help with their educational and social outcomes....
so i imagine your image of teachers has been tainted by one not so good one! dont keep this attitude for all teachers, many are very inspirational, i know that in my schooling years i had my fair share of teachers that did me no good!! but then again it was the 'good' ones who motivated me to succeed...
but also the 'bad' ones motivated me to be where i am today, i got to the point where i was so sick of being picked on by teachers who had personality clashes with me (and i with them), i decided to become a teacher to help right their wrongs, i am intending to provide the best possible education service to my students in order for them to foster their learning...
so therefore i dont think im dumb!! some are just not sensitive to students needs and as a result lack the ability to educate students.
in saying all that what exactly do you mean by 'dumb'.
there is a lot of training involved in order to successfully complete a degree in education, however just because someone has done it does mean they are capable of passing and teaching this knowledge to someone else...

Teachers (with formal training) are not dumb. There might be some who become dumb because their genetic line is showing in their later age.

NO. You just think they are. They have their Master's Degree, and a lot of years at college.
I have my differences with teachers also, they mostly gripe about low wages, but then again, they are off if it snows, get their summer vacations off, Spring break off.
Have a relative by marriage, and she was always gripeing about money, finally I had enough, I got a pen and paper and we sat down and compared her salary to the hours that she worked and it turned out that she was making a lot more per hour than myself. At least that shut her up.

Being academically smart and having common sense are not the same thing. So, it depends on what you mean. There are teachers good at one but not the other. You kind of need both to be successful. Same thing applies to students. Make sense???

Well... I take it that you're upset with a teacher, huh?
No, teachers aren't usually "dumb" - duh...
However, teachers don't know "everything" either - whatever is going on, give them a break!
