Describe a general day in life of what it is like for a college boy who is special needs and goes to "special classrooms" and has an aide to help with excess work, but it is a boy who is smart and can do stuff (ie. NOT retardedness or stupidness, more or less like LD or ADD)

Well, as a person with a disability who went to college (and grad school)--and who has worked with other students with disabilities, I think I can give you some input.

First--unlike primary/seconndary schools, colleges do not segregate students with disabilities into classrooms apart from other students.

Students get reasonable accomodations--usually from an Office of Disability services--which vary according to the needs of the student. However, the use o fsuch services is voluntary--and unlike primary/secondary schools, is not controlled by the teachers/staff.

Typically, a student with ADD/LD does not have an aide--they don't require that. Aids are usually limited to people who assist someone with severe mobility problems, interpreters for deaf students, notetakers for visually impaired students.

An ADD or LD student might use some assistive technology in class (say, a tape recorder) but the special accomodations are usually limited to special testing conditions (e.g., a quiet room and a specified amount of additional time for taking a test).

Otherwise, the typical day is pretty much like any other students'. Students with disabilities can self-identify to other students--but its their choice. They are not labled as "special needs" or otherwise stigmatized as is policy in most primary/secondary schools. The special services they need are made abailable--and at most colleges/universities getting those services isn't a problem (there are still a few exceptions, despite the laws)--and studies show grades and graduation rates are about the same as for non-disabled students. But it is up to the student to contact the office of disability services and request assistance--no one forces them.

What is the point in asking this question? Is it for an assignment? Are you a special needs person who wishes to compare how you go through a day versus how other special needs persons go through their day? I think I fit the description of what your looking for, I just would like to know what its for because it seems like a random question.
