I know a lot about polymer clay and also have a large online polymer clay "encyclopedia" website you might be interested in, so maybe I can help.
As for groups, the most active ones are the message board at http://www.polymerclaycentral.com , and the yahoogroups Polymer_Clay_People and clay-polymer. If you have questions about simple projects, I'd suggest PolymerClayCentral first. There are smaller groups, and some are especially for beginners or deal mostly with particular polymer clay techniques, etc., (like miniatures, or jewelry, etc) as well.
The polymer boards at Craftster are much smaller and tend to focus primarily on little sculpts/miniatures, so if you're not doing those, the 3 previous ones I mentioned would know much more.
You can get more info about all those groups on this page of my polymer encyclopedia:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/groups--guilds.htm
You can also ask a specific question here, and I can probably help (... just be sure to put the words polymer clay --or Sculpey, Translucent Liquid Sculpey, liquid clay... or whatever-- in the subject line so I'll be sure to see your message.
I can also give you links to the specific pages at my site that deal with whatever you might be interested in.
You didn't actually say what you're making with your Sculpey** and your TLS** so there may be other pages too, but check this one out for loads of info on liquid polymer clay and how to use it... your answer may well be there:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/LiquidSculpey.htm
If you want to check out the "Table of Contents" page for the whole site for other topics, here's a link:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/contents.htm
(...to browse, just scroll all the way down... when you find a topic page you'd like to investigate, check on its name from inside the alphabetical navigation bar on the left side)
**
Sculpey, SuperSculpey, and Sculpey III are several lines of one brand of polymer clay (made by Polyform)... those are "weak" polymer clays after baking in any thin or extending areas (FimoSoft is similar)
....if you want a "strong" brand of polymer clay in thin or projecting areas (and less soft when shaping), use Premo, FimoClassic, or Kato Polyclay... or Cernit outside the US)
"Translucent Liquid Sculpey" is one brand of liquid polymer clay, and the most easily available at retail... it's less clear after curing though, if that matters, than the other two brands --"Fimo Liquid Decorating Gel" (at Joann's?) and "Kato Clear Medium" (at Hobby Lobby?).
All brands can be purchased online though.

Craftster.org is a great place for all kinds of crafting ideas and they're usually pretty helpful. Here's their polymer clay forum:

Get Crafty is okay - they're not as specific:

Go to yahoo! groups and join one of the miniatures groups and tell them your problem.
Mini_hints is smaller and they've always answered my Qs without being condescending--you'll find someone there who has worked with it, I'm sure.
Its hosted by Marsha and tell them dkcrochet sent you! (don't know if it'll help, but you can!! LOL)
