How To Hand Print on a steel / Copper / Metal Plates?

I have a number of copper plates .I am interested in printing names on these plates.... What equiment do I need? Where can I locate them? Thanks alot!!

They do make paint markers with a ball end for permanent marking on metal surfaces. You could also buy an inexpensive engraver for less than $10.
