I would recommend reading as many books as possible in the genres that you like to write, as well as about the craft of writing. When you are reading other fiction books, pay attention to how the authors structure their work.

Here are some of my favorites about writing:
1) "Writing Down The Bones" by Natalie Goldberg
2) "Bird by Bird" by Anne Lamott
3) "On Writing Well" by William Zinsser
4) "How to Write Science Fiction & Fantasy" by Orson Scott Card
5) "On Writing" by Stephen King
6) "No Plot? No Problem!" by Chris Baty
7) "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves" by Lynne Truss
8) "The Elements of Style" by Strunk and White

Also, take a look at a few websites where authors gather. Some of them have very helpful articles and forums. Holly Lisle has a fantastic website that has articles on both the business and writing aspects, including an excellent article on worldbuilding that I highly suggest for any fantasy writer:

Forward Motion is a wonderful, helpful community:

Absolute Write is one of my favorite author communities, with a vast pool of resources and helpful people:

Write every single day. Set a target for yourself. For instance, my goal right now is to write 1,000 words a day. I get this done before I go on the internet, read, watch TV, or goof around. To begin, maybe set an easier goal for yourself-- try 250 words each day. Write in a journal as well, if you feel so inclined!

Also, never forget how important it is to edit and rewrite! When you finish a short story or novel, I suggest setting it aside for a month. Don't look at it or think about it (if you can help it). Work on another project. Once that time has passed, go back and read what you wrote. Try to be objective-- are there parts that need to be expanded? Cut out? Rewritten? How is the grammar and spelling? Editing could (and should) take more time than the original draft!

The ideas really have to come from within you. We can give you all the ideas in the world, but if you aren't passionate about it then the novel won't end up being any good IF you even finish it. Write about what you love. The rest will come!

I pass judgement on a well booklet, identical to I might pass judgement on a well film. My quantity one rule is, if it makes me cry, it is handed my experiment. I like books that make me believe as despite the fact that the characters and their occasions are truly. I desire to disregard that I'm even studying. A well booklet is one who continues you up into the early hours of the morning. You discover your self crying, shaking in worry or pleasure. Those are the books which can be "epidermis breaking" for my part. So a few men and women would possibly love Twilight, different's hate it. As lengthy because it made any person, someplace get the ones chills and goosebumps, it is regarded a well booklet in my head. Well-written does not neccessarily imply it has to have gigantic vocab and such a lot of main points you do not even realize what is going down, to me it simply implies that the author is aware of what she or he is doing with their tale. Oh good, I'm rambling, so I'll give up. But very nearly, a well booklet has to seize you via the hair and throw you into an international you certainly not knew existed and go away you awe-struck and perplexed while it is over.

Make a plan. It could include character sketches and an outline, and these, of course, can change as your writing progresses.

Pick out an amount of time each day, a specific hour, or a word count goal. Sit down every day and make an effort to complete your task. For example, I made a vow for January to write 500 words a day to end up with 15,000 words by the end of the month. If you don't set goals for yourself, you'll be less likely to move forward.

Don't fall into the first chapter trap. Many beginning novelists stay stuck on perfecting their first few chapters and never move on. Turn off your inner editor, don't look back unless necessary, and promise yourself not to do any editing until you are done with your first draft.

These are just a few things that I have learned while working on my first novel. Two good books I have found that you might want to check out:
"Novelist's Boot Camp" by Todd Stone

"The Marshall Plan for Novel Writing" by Evan Marshall

And here's an article giving advice on novel writing that I found very helpful:

I've written several novels and my answer is... there is no real way to write a book. E.B. White - author of Charlotte's Web - said there really is no "way" to write a book. The key is to write what you feel and to keep on writing over and over again and don't stop. Never give up, just keep at it. If you lose interest, try something else. Just keep at it and re-write. Re-writing is the key to good writing. Just sit down and start writing what you feel... a story will emerge.

Read a lot of books in your favorite genre.

Then start writing on what you like to see written--not what's already out there and hyped to death--and start writing.

Experiment, experiment, experiment.

There really is no "how".
You get a good idea, you write it down, jot some notes as they come, then start writing. When you've finished your book, read it. . . edit it. . .read it. . .edit it, all until you've got the piece you really REALLY want and your satisfied with it. That's about it, really.

Do it this way

Write down whatever ideas u have. whatever u wanna write make notes of it as and when the ideas the come in your mind.

when u have collected sufficient amount of stuff start charting out the characters elaborately with minute points in mind.
who likes whom how do they interact.

This is very important u should know ur characters very very well...

BEST OF LUCK
