Homophobia is the FEAR of gay people not the dislike of gay people. People who dislike gay people aren't all bad just misinformed. They all have different reasons. See source.
This is not defending the ignorant morons who take there general dislike and turn in into hate and violence. I'm just saying that whether you are gay, straight, bi, Muslim, Jewish, Christian or from a far away galaxy someone is going to dislike you for some reason. Get used to it.

I don't think homophobia has anything to do with religion. Religious people believe that homosexuality is a sin but they are not necessarily afraid of even hateful of homosexuals. Homophobics are afraid of homosexuals because they are either unsure of their own sexuality or they have this erroneous idea that all gays want to jump their bones. It's more about ignorance than religion.

I know a few homophobic atheists, but a lot of the "homo" stuff does come from religion 'in nature'. Goes pretty far back, eh?

there are some homophobic atheists, but it;'s a matter of personal feelings rather than following an obsolete bigotry out of tradition.
so there are undoubtedly a smaller percentage among atheists.

I think homophobia is a personal decision therefore anyone can be homophobic. I am christian, and homosexual activity is against doctrine, but I myself am not a homophobe..

homphobia is a bogus homosexual media buzzword created and designed to foster hate and the false impression that persons who do not support the homosexual agenda are in some way mentally incompetent. Persons of all walks of life choose to resist the homosexual agenda.The Nazis used similar slurs to manipulate public opinion against jews and people who resisted their agenda.
