I know that our bodies are comprised of proteins, lipids (fats) amd water, but how come I get so thirsty? Wouldn't my body soak up water in the tub?

Well, that would be the intuitive result. However, because your skin is mostly watertight, your body dehydrates due to the heat faster than your skin can wick in moisture by osmosis.

you go in for a long hot soak because you are tiered out and have had along hard day where you have lost a lot of water and are dehydrated to begin with.......and bath salts if used can deplete the body further of water......alcohol to unwind doesn't help either
