The one thing that separates Krispy Kreme from all of the other doughnut shops is that they serve their doughnuts hot. They specialize in glazed doughnuts. Watching the doughnuts run under a fountain of glaze is pretty entertaining, but they just don't taste as good as a French Crueller or a cream or jelly filled doughnut. Krispy Kreme does have these varities of doughnuts as well, but I'm biased: Being a displaced Northerner, (someone who lives in the south but is not originally from there) I like Krispy Kreme second to Dunkin' Donuts. Dunkin' Donuts is a chain that was once in everywhere but I think has completely disappeared from the south.

I had never heard of a hot doughnut for a long time. I believe that Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnuts are the only commercially served food with aboslutely no nutritional value. They do taste good, but you can only eat one at a time or you'll throw up.

OMG, you don't know about Krispy Kreme???
They are only the best doughnuts in the world. Take it from this big girl...they are the best doughnuts out there. If you are fortunate to pass one on the way home, at any time of the day, look for the HOT sign to come on, and that means they have some really, really fresh made doughnuts ready. I've seen some people have a wreck just trying to get to this place...lol

Seriously though, they are simply the best doughnuts, and you should try them. Don't the the Krispy Kreme haters tell you not to get them, try them for yourself and form you own opinion.

It's a donut shop and many of the grocery store and convenient stores also sell them. I'm only familiar w/their "glazed yeast" donuts, and they are very good, however....there is a "mom & pop" donut shop here Indianapolis, that has been in business since the '50's I think and have expanded into 3 locations, that's "Long's Donuts" and they are by far, the absolute, no question about it, very best donuts you can buy!!! There is nothing on this earth like a Longs donut! Dont worry, I'll eat some for everybody !!

Krispy Kreme donuts are extremely pleasing to most taste buds; unfortunately, I understand they are laden with trans-fatty acids, now considered dangerous to health. Taste-wise, in my estimation they are second only to the French eggy-donuts that came fresh out of the bakery at Borrachini's on Rainier Avenue in Seattle on Fridays.

They are a donut chain ( US , Canada , Mexico AND the UK ) that some people like because they can get them warm as they come out of the cooker .
Once they are cold tho , they taste , eyuuuuck .
The mom and pop donut places are much better .

But if you drift south to your buddies down in England , you can try some . Then travel to the Pacific Coast (recommend the SF bay area ) and try some gooooood ones .
