I've always used SFO. You can get on a bus that will take you right into Napa, you won't have to deal with traffic by renting a car in the city. The service is called Evans. It costs about $27 for a one-way trip, well worth the money. Nice buses, and they're very professional, it's not like a Greyhound. When you arrive, you can even ask for a ride to a hotel or the car rental place. (Costs about $19 more) Or they'll call you a cab. I suggest Black Tie for the taxi. I've been using Evans for years and never been disappointed. And it's great to relax on the bus after a 5 hour flight and not have the hassle of traffic.

Enjoy your stay in Napa!

There is an airport in Napa but there are no scheduled commercial flights. The closest commercial airport is Oakland, about 50 miles south. San Francisco is approximately the same distance.

I usually do oakland as first choice, and then SFO or Sacramento next. The decision usually depends on the best pricing for flights. And Sac & Oak are good for southwest and flights going shorter distances. SFO is better if you are going cross country.

Napa to SFO 58 miles - 1 hour drive in no traffic
Napa to OAK 51 miles - 57 min in no traffic
Napa to SMF/SAC 63 miles- 1 hour in no traffic

they are all relatively the same distance and time in ideal, no traffic, non commute times. SFO and Oakland are also serviced by an airporter shuttle called the Evans Shuttle. Sac you have to rent a car and drive it yourself.

Oakland would be great, do not discount Sacramento there are some great rates, its easy for in & out and access to 80 to the Napa Valley is about 1.5 hours.

Major one is SFO in San Francisco, or Oakland International

Oakland or SFO are your best bests, Sacramento may be easy to get to as well. SFO is a little hard to get out of with all the traffic, but it depends on the time of day.

easiest and cheapest would be Oakland. (OAK) but you can also use San Francisco Airport (SFO)...just a little further away!
