The keyless entry was lost for my 98 Ford Explorer. It was not a factory installed keyless entry. Is there a way i can just go buy a new one a program it to my alarm and keyless entry? What is the best way of doing this, myself or through a dealership?

I would think for sure if it was not a factory installed keyless entry then you should have no problem installing another one yourself. I wouldn't go to the dealership unless you want to spend quite a bit of money and time. Do some research online about installing an aftermarket keyless entry and see what you come up with. It should wire right up.

Dealership in all possibility is your proper guess (i'd be kinda afraid if somebody different than the broking can reproduce your keys and key fob merely off your VIN#). it will in all possibility be approximately $a hundred.
