Recently purchased a 78 CB750, and when I pulled off the tank there were two loose rubber lines. one off the carb closest to the fuel shut off, and one off the breather box. My Clymer book does not offer any answers. HELP?

On the Fuel Tank there's 2 hoses

1 is actual Single Fuel Line--connects to fuel valve on the tank.
Only ONE fuel line feeds all 4 carbs thru a fuel rail built into carb assembly.
Easy to visually Trace it to the Carbs and see where it's connected

The Other is a Drain Tube which connects under neath the fuel tank.

All '78 750 models had Recessed Fuel Filler Caps beneath a lockable "door" on top of tank.

That Recess beneath that door creates a sort of "Pan" sitting on top of tank.
It's NOT weather-sealed,,,
In otherwords,,it fills with Water when it rains.
The Drain is simply connected to a nipple sticking out underneath fuel tank,,,,
and Drains any accumulated water OR SPILLED FUEL

It connects to the airfilter box.

The Drain Hose is 2 Piece with a push-on connector sleeve.
Reason is,,,that makes a "Front and Rear" half of the hose.
You disconnect the hose at that joint when removing the tank,,,rather than having to struggle with doing it at the airbox

OTHER Hoses in the general area:
The very Top of the engine,,on l/h side has a Large Vent Hose (Finger-Sized)from Valve Cover to AirBox

Each Carb has a small(phone cord-sized) vent ~ drain tube from a fitting directly on the very bottom of carb,,,,
they "go nowhere",,,Open Ended and are routed down across back of engine

Nice Bike by the way..
I 'spose everything possible has been said about 750-4's,,,,
thru their entire model life they continued to prove theirself as one of the best bikes ever made.

Take care of it,,,Be Safe,,and Enjoy

Cb750 Oil Lines

Most motorcycle have a line/hose coming from the carb. Since you have 4 cylinders, I would think that you would have at least 2. These line usually have a plug in the end. These lines collect condensation, oil and stuff from your carb. Remove the plugs and drain. If a little water comes out, that's normal. If there is oil, usually a sign of something bad. Rings, valves, etc.

The breather box line is to void fuel blow back. The line from the carb is the float bowl overflow which will shed fuel toward the rear frame swivel. You want to make sure they are not pinched or plugged. Replace them with new and make sure they trail below the frame to the rear.

those are float bowl over flow lines. They are suppose to route below the frame so if/when the carbs backup, and they do on the cb750, the fuel runs onto the ground and not on something hot.
