The peas provide fiber among other things such as vitamins that any herbivorous fish needs. You don't have to feed peas, many other vegetables are good sources of fiber and vitamins for fish. Things like spinach, lettuce, green beans, squash, zucchini and other work well too. A little fresh veggie in their diet from time to time provides the fiber needed to help prevent constipation in fish prone to the problem.
Just all part of a well balanced diet.

Same reason people eat veggies. It's got fiber and has fresh nutrients. It's used to treat fish with constipation and as a treat about once a week or so. Since guppies like greens in their diet, yours might like some peas too!

I've heard it;s good to clear out their systems, and also good if a fish doesn't want to eat, but my fish won't touch peas. I've tried, and they just sit there, even if I squish the peas.
