Competition comes out of the process of natural selection, and the survival of the strongest and fittest. But is it possible that we should be evolving beyond this philosophy, as it is also responsible for many of the emotions that provoke war and violence? Or is it nature's way or winnowing out the weak, and is there another, more evolved, way of living in harmony with the environment, planet and the universe that perhaps we are being challenged to evolve into?

It is co-operation and not competition that is needed now. It is atrocious the number of school kids committing suicide because of failing to perform as well as some peers on some arbitrary scale of performance, while they may be really the better in a total sense.

Most of competition, be it a beauty pageant, best infant, sports, or other endeavour is all based on an outside imposed standard.

The only competition (Even this is debatable) that may be worthwhile is an internal one of excelling oneself. Competition breeds animosity. Some of the body language on display at sports events is not very pleasant to say the least. No one would behave in that fashion in normal social interaction.

All competition is ego based Less of it the better for mankind as a whole.

Not as long as living things are "consumers". As such, there will always be a need to destroy to survive, either to eat or keep from being eaten.

Even "harmony with the environment" means competition, albiet limited competition, within the renewable resources of the environment. For example, living in a place that someone else wants to live is winning a competition, even if it is done in peace.

Competition is a necessary evil. Otherwise, majority of folks would not have the motivation to be better or live a better life, if everything were handed to them with zero effort on their part.

Yes, we can live beyond this philosophy of competition if we want to. In my opinion, competition arises out of the scarcity mentality. People compete because they feel that there is not enough to go around and the feel as if they are going to miss out on things, people, ideas etc.

The truth is we live in an adundant universe. Poverty exists only because of scarcity mentality and scarcity programming. If we all lived in this world with the mentality of abundance, we would all be prosperous.

This is because if the world's resources were evenly split today, each of the 5 billion human beings alive today would be worth at least US$110,000.

The reason why this is not the case is that the poor lose hope and think that they can't gain more wealth or they think that being financially prosperous is being wicked and evil.

On the other hand, many rich people keep hoarding wealth. They don't want to share their wealth or secrets on how to gain wealth because they are afraid that if everyone else becomes as wealthy as they are, they will lose power and leverage to control things.

In my opinion the virus of scarcity is poisoning the world. The truth of the matter is that everyone can be wealthy and prosperous and still have a wonderful life. The universe is abundant and if we want wealth and power we can have it.

What we think of, focus on and give all our mental energies and passion we manifest. Prosperity can be manifested by each person if he/she wants it. If you read the history of ancient Babylon, you'll come to realize what I mean. Pretty much everyone in Babylon was wealthy and prosperous and they lived a great life; they lived life the way it was meant to be lived, until scarcity programming started infecting them too.

Harmful. I believe that it perpetuates the illusion of scarcity within our society. It puts our focus on the illusion that there is not enough and that we have to compete for resources, when in reality there is enough in the universe for everyone. Focusing on lack only attracts more lack. Focusing on abundance attracts more abundance.
