Try to understand her better. Maybe shes saying it because she doesn't know what else to say, and feminism is a word that is really buzzing right now.
I would ask her: "Why do you say this or that?
I thought a feminist seeks equality, but not to degrade the male sex. Am I wrong in my thoughts? Could you explain to me what a feminist really is?"
I now that the feminist movement was started seeking equality. I really don't think that has changed. In my point of view: Feminism is in, racism is out.

I've had teachers like that too. Especially the feminist types who are going through a divorce or those "lifetime" type women *rolls eyes*, they will rant and rave about the "rotten, dirty, scoundrel beings that are males" yet heaven forbid you insult a woman or mistakenly use a "masculine" word. I do believe in equal rights, but some of these feminists go too far (just as many chauvinists do).
If you want to annoy her, just use terms such as policeman or mailman...or tell her to get a life...no seriously stand up for yourself and put her in her place without cursing or making derogatory remarks. Tell her how her comments make you feel. If she doesn't understand that then she likely proves she's not what she says she is.

Simply request a class change and make it known why you are requesting it. You have a right not to have her ideas tossed down your throat. You don't have to listen to an angry woman taking out her own frustrations on you or any other person in that class.. What she has is an opinion and the schools are "suppose" to forbid anyone male or females from expressing their own personal opinions in a classroom.
If you take the proper steps she will be handled properly within the school system, and could lose her job over this.. Ask for a class change and like I said make sure you have it noted why you are requesting the change. IF you are denied take it to the next level and take it to the school board.

Got leadership skills? Gather all the boys in the class that hear these remarks and organize. The next time she makes a sexist remark, all of you stand right up and march out. All of you need to complain to the principal as a whole. She can't and won't get away with this crap if you unite and conquer. Good luck.
email me and let me know what happens. I'm on your side.

Your history teacher has a problem - don't perpetuate it by appearing to be like her with comments about woman that are a retaliation. When she makes a comment that is offensive, bring it to her attention (as unconfrontational as possible) and ask if the class can discuss it. Frank and honest discussion from the whole class can be productive for all students, both sexes and more importantly, the teacher - she needs a reality check from her charges.

I had a teacher like that, and all I could do about it was ignore her. I agree about the equal rights, but neither gender should have greater rights than the other. Record her if you want, but otherwise just let her go with it. She is probably smarter than you so anything you say she could turn around on you and make you look bad, so play it easy. Besides, the year is almost over.

I'm sorry she talks like that. She doesn't speak for all women.
I don't think it will help to put women down back at her. That will lower you to her level (and confirm her nasty ideas about men). You could try politely objecting without insulting her or women ("Excuse me, Ms _____, but I don't feel comfortable with you speaking that way"). But I've been in a similar situation with a man who talked like that, and I certainly wouldn't have the guts to object to his face. I agree with asking for a class-change and stating this as your reason. And if that doesn't work, you (or your parents) could speak to the Principal or the School Board.
Good luck!

i really don't know what kind of teacher u have, but maby she is just trying to get some one to speak up and start a conversation about sexism and stereotyping,(history is full of it)first don't let it get u mad, then calmly ask her if that last comment was not sexist, and see what happens, a teacher is after all just a teacher and not a god they make mistakes just like everyone else.

Try ratemyprofessor.com. If you have a recorder and it is allowed in class, use it and then take it to the Dean of Students. If that does not work go to US Department of Education and file a complaint against the college or school.

Save the face-to-face confrontation for another time. What she is doing is illegal. Bring a small tape recorder to class and record the lecture. Then take the tape to your parents and play it for them. Let them take the offensive remarks on tape to the school board and demand action. That is the best way to resolve it.
