I have a on board sound card that won't respond after I reinstalled XP. The drivers are updated.?

The volume page keeps saying that there is no audio device even though other pages say that the device is working properly.

You are missing the correct sound drivers.

Go to start, control panel, system, hardware, device manager. Left click plus sign next to "sound..." Right click on the non-codec and click on uninstall. Restart computer. If no non-codec was listed, download from manufacturer website the correct drivers.
