You only have to massage the soap into your face for about 30 seconds. You should use warm water not hot!

use warm, not hot water because it will help to open your pores, thus allowing the soap to clean in your pores.
the time for scrubbing and massaging depends on what type of product you are using. i think 2 minutes is too long. as long as you feel like you cleaned everything, i wouldn't worry about it. also, you shouldn't scrub (with a washcloth) everyday.
don't forget to moisturize after you wash, because you've stripped the skin of all of its natural oils.

First of all never use hot water! Drying to the face, makes blood vessels expand! You could damage your skin. You should be using cleanser/scrub for your type skin. Don't use bar soap.Oily, combination, normal or dry. 1 minute is plenty, make sure you rinse 2x, to make sure there is no residue. Pat dry, and follow with moisturizer.

Hot water dries your skin, cold water chaps it-use tepid water, on the cool side of warm.
Your skin doesn't absorb soap-where exactly did you think it might disappear to? Don't SCRUB-massage the cleanser into your skin for about one minute, then rinse thoroughly.

I splash my face with warm water and use Cinique acne cleanser and rub it in for about 1 min. then i rinse with cold water.
If i want to use a scrub i use Apricot scrub and do the same thing.

I use warm water, then cold water to open and close my pores, that prevents acne and oily skin.
i use gel cleanser [clearsil ultra gel wash[ which works awsome and i massage it on my skin for about 40-60 seconds or so.
the gel cleanser makes my face soft, smooth, and clean because of the chemicals in there.
once the gel touches my face, its already on there and you have to wash it off cuz you cant leave it on forever.
