Not all gifts because some gifts carry whats called a gift tax but yes most gifts are free.

Its usually what a company gives you if you buy something else. But you have to buy the original thing first, so Its not really free. I have sometimes bought the first thing to get the gift, then returned the first thing, so I really only paid postage for it. But its still not free.

No, nothing is free. You paid for it some how. Those free gifts you usually had to pay for something else to get it.

Nothing is free in life really nothing ever is you have to pay for it!
For example those mints at resturants you paid for your meal so they offer you mint because you pay to eat there
Yahoo Answers make you answer questions with a point system you have to earn a certain about of points to get the gift they want to give you.
Teacher gives you a pencil because she or he see you don't have one get ready for a test

i think its one of those things you get when you buy like a whole bunch of brand name perfume from a department store... even then its not "free".
