Okay, so when I put the fighting fish in the fishbowl all these air bubbles covered the inside of the bowl and on him. I put him back in the cup he came in and all the bubbles are off of him. Should I put him back in the bowl or leave him in the cup for a few hours so he can get adjusted? Is he okay?

When he was in the bowl he was just hovering almost as if he was dead, when he is the cup he is very active. Where should I put him?

I have seen this in water that is freshly drawn from the tap and is warming in a tank. Give the bowl an hour or so after being drawn from the tap and dechlorinated then you should be able to float the bettas container for 15 minutes to adjust the temperatures and move him into the bowl.

It is a good idea to read up about fish before you care for one. They don't come with an instruction booklet. Bettas make bubble nests. The males make the nests and protect the babies. They hope a female, with eggs, will happen to pass by and mate,so they are prepared. Don't choke the poor thing in a cramped little jar. Many times, when you open the tap,air and other gas bubbles come out mixed with the water. That usually clears up after about 2 days. You should not use fresh tap water, but water that was already standing 2 or 3 days.

What kind of water is in the bowl? Should be dechlorinated(you can either let the water sit out for 24hrs, or buy the tablets)

You cannot keep switching the fish from bowl to cup, it is stressful.

I think you better off putting your betta in the cup because it seems more active than the one in the bowl.

Your fish is making a bubble nest...he wants to breed which is a healthy sign, you should not have moved him, but it's okay since you didn't know. You need to fill the bowl with purified water at the same temperature he is now in (you can buy a gallon of purified water at the grocery store), otherwise, you can fill it with tap water and put in a de-chlorinating agent, such as Prime, but remember to transfer him when the water temperatures are the same. You also need to get a PH balancing agent (from your fish store), tell them that you have a fighting fish, they will give you what you need. Never change your fish into another water environment that is different from the one you are taking them from. The male fighting fish makes the bubbles (it's a nest for the eggs).

Is the water in the cup the same as what's in his bowl? Or is it water he was in at the store he came from?

If the cup water is from the store, is the temperature in the bowl the same? Does it have something in it to remove chlorine/chloramine?

For now, unless he's active because he's trying to get out of the cup, leave him in that till you get the cause of his discomfort from being in the bowl figured out.
