Yes. It doesn't always feel this way but compared to other countries we Americans are actually very tolerant and accepting people. Much of it has to do with our high education level and, until recently, our lack of religion in the public sector.

Indians have a strong image here. It's been my experience that they are seen as hard working, very bright (especially with computers and science), peaceful due to their Sikh or Hindu backgrounds and very respectful of women.

This answers the question of whether Indians are welcome. Culture is another matter. America has it's own culture and most agree that it's important for immigrants to integrate. That doesn't mean giving up your old ways; just try to be flexible about how others live and perhaps adapt to it. For instance, while you have the right to do it, burning Richard Gere in efiagy for a kiss probably wouldn't go over well here.
Why would you move to the USA if you want to retain your culture in it's entirety?

not all the time, all the East Indian men i have ever met and i know quite a lot are very anti woman, i know some Americans with East Indian ancestry and they dont tend to be that way but when they are freshly here that is a typical mind set

yes, for the most part. there are undoubtably a few who will object (they always do), but many/most of us are agreeable, and some of us enthusuastic.
