Even if everyone did reduce their "carbon footprint", wouldn't that be offset by a growing world population? Shouldn't we also be looking at what a "sustainable" population is for this planet?

Don't misunderstand me - I'm not saying that Global Warming "isn't" happening. The Earth is definitely warming, but the cause of this warming seems to still be open to debate.

With China and India emerging from 3rd world status into industrial nations, they are bringing 1/4 of the world's population with them. No matter how much we conserve, it will not offset these two nations. I'm not saying we shouldn't do what we can, but good luck. In addition, our world has a finite amount of natural resources. Think about it.

I stink at chemistry, so I can't explain this, though I understood it when I read up on it. There are other chemicals that can counter the effects of global warming. We don't know how much humans have contributed, since global warming is cyclical, but humans have never been in a position to offset it before. Global warming events in the past parallel mass extinction events, so we should seriously do what we can to lessen the effects.
BTW, the southern U.S., Mexico and central america will be hardest hit by global warming. Agriculture will be wiped out. Maybe the red states should reconsider their scoffing at global warming.

I personally don't think our world has become a lost cause, and we all should try to save the only world we have. People have a backup account/credit card for emergency, backup cars for emergency, but we don't have a backup planet to run to; therefore, it is selfish of us to think global warming is a lost cause and we shouldn't find a cure for the problem.

As for the growing population, i personally do not want any kids in this world because of the horrible things. However, if we don't give a chance to the brilliant to be brilliant, then how will we ever find our very-needed solution???

Good luck!

The "man made" global warming theory has been proven wrong.

Here are Phds that disagree with the global warming theory:

It is now known that the sun is causing the global warming. All of the planets in the solar system have global warming, including Pluto(which is no longer called a planet).

NASA data shows temperatures have only increased by 0.65 of a degree in the last 100 years.

Now That The Global Warming Theory Has Been Proven Wrong, Will Future Generations Blindly Trust Scientists?

To the poster below (goldenra):
Humans had no effect on the ozone layer shrinking above antarctica . That hole grows and shrinks due to "solar wind" and geo magnetic forces around the earth.
Humans have only been known of the hole for 30 years(since a special satellite was launched). It probably existed thousands of years ago but there is no way of knowing because there were no satellites back then. We do know animals in antartica adapted to high levels of UV a long time ago. That is an indication that the hole existed a very long time ago.

If you'll notice Mars and other planets are warming as well so its Solar Warming. ..but thats irreverent when your looking to solve the problem.

I don't believe in using force on other people. So I don't believe in writing laws that make them recycle or whatever. I wrote a paper on this before.. basically.. get your sunscreen and prepare for some hot days.. or get ready for a police state with bureaucrats checking your garbage.

yes that is exactly it. global warming seems to be completely natural geological thing beyond our control. it's almost arrogant of us to think we can beat mother nature so bad. we do need to think about immediate things like population, water supplies, disease, food supplies. we take these things for granted. and sustainable environments that are cyclical instead of just eating the environment.

Good point. I believe the global warming "scientists" have indicated that it can only be slowed...and not reversed. As such, it is a lost cause.

I wonder if Harry "Mr. Rogers" Reid will use that in his next speech?

"Global Warming is lost!"

Sustainability is part of the solution. Carbon footprint is part of the solution. Making informed consumer choices is part of the solution. If we had said that about the ozone layer, we wouldn't have reexamined the CFC issue would we have? We would have Aqua-Netted our way into a bigger hole.

You are so right, my friend. Solving the problems, isn't what the Liberal Left is wanting to do. making you scared of it? Is. Keep doing the research. You're gonna be able to find more falsehoods from them. Good Point. Hope you stick around!

YES, you see the truth. uncontrolled population growth is a subject that China has recognized as the real threat to our planet. WE all are doomed unless people stop reproducing.
