"Rat" has the right idea. Check the brake light switch. It will be up under the dashboard, mounted against the brake pedal or the brake pedal bracket.
The brake light switch could be bad or out of adjustment or the wires could be broken.
Next, check the ground wire for the tail lights and that you have the correct type of bulbs installed (I have seen people force the wrong bulb into a socket and strange things happen). Most cars made within the last 20 years come with plastic taillights and need a ground wire in addition to the 12V wires connected to the park light switch, brake light switch, etc.

Do I have a pet skunk who eats corndogs? Why yes I do..... but what does that have to do with brake lights?? Anyway.....
Check the grounds and the wires for the bulbs to see if your getting 12 volts, also check the brake light switch.

yes it is probably the brake light switch located on the pedal assembly. when you depress the brake pedal this switch makes the connection that allows power to the brake lights.

Do your turn signals work? If they don't, it's probably the bulbs. If they do, it's the brake light switch, down behind the brake pedal. (Your turn signals and your brake lights are the same light).

Do the fuses blow with out stepping on the brake? I say the 1st element of diagnosis is the brake/tail bulbs. Pull them out and look on the filaments. I truly have seen filaments get crossed up and shorted out. those 2 circuits should not be appropriate. you would be able to desire to have 2 disasters going right here. many times you would be able to desire to begin on the tip of a circuit and initiate removing issues (bulbs, twine connectors) and attempting to isolate the fast circuit. The wiring is especially contained in a wrap and whether it truly is not pinched or chafed it is going to likely be ok. verify the brake wires to/from the brake change (above the pedal). appropriate to the sprint - it ought to be an inner short in the device cluster. i think of a pair screws carry it in - slide it out of the sprint and unplug the connectors in the back of it. attempt fuse back. i think of the sprint fuse additionally powers the fee sensor - hint that out to the transmission and verify it truly is not broken or cooked on the exhaust pipe. Isolate man or woman wires connector to connector and verify w/ ohm meter for short to floor.
