No, an employer can't demand, unless you signed a contract in the hiring process stating you would if needed. Otherwise you can only be demanded up to 40 hours, unless you are paid salary, then the rules don't apply, and they are free to demand the hours they please. Hope this helps.

Demand how? And why? Generally, the answer is no. But frankly, I'd need more info before I could give an honest answer.

Some places have mandatory overtime. If it wasn't stipulated I don't see that they can. They would have to pay you for it.
