the song's failure to chart in the US and the UK always bothered pete townshend. he thought record buyers missed out on this one. the song was on 67's the who sell out.
it's probably the who's best studio song, but with the overdubs it was never that great for their live show. probably the only song the who had ever done, excluding most of quadrophenia and tommy, that wasn't better live.
