1/2 = 5/10
7/10 is more than 5/10 = 1/2
common denominators
1/8 = 30/240
1/10 = 24/240
1/3 = 80/240
Or change each fraction to a decimal and compare decimals.
1/8 = 0.125
1/10 = 0.1
1/3 = 0.33...

To simplify fractions, think in terms of a Pie....
you cut it up into 8 pieces, if you give 4 pieces away you have 1/2 a pie left, right.
4 is the number or numerator it goes on top
_
8 is the denominator is goes on the bottom
both 4 & 8 can be divided evenly by 2, right.
2 goes into 4, 2 times
2 goes into 8, 4 times
do it again (both 2 & 4 can be divided by 2 evenly)
2 goes into 2, 1 time
2 goes into 4, 2 times
( or for the shorter version, you could have used 4 from the beginning and got the ending number)
so your ending answer is: 1/2
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1/8 is greater than 1/10, because if you cut a pie into 8 pieces you have more on each piece, than if you cut it into 10 pieces. Remember the number or numerator is the top number.
So if you have 2 pie's the same size.
Pie #1= cut into 8 pieces
Pie #2= cut into 10 pieces
Of course you will realize that the one with less sections is going to have more per section.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can apply the same thinking to the 1st question as well:
If your talking about the pie....Remember the top number is the number of sections your looking at....and the denominator (bottom number) is the total amount of sections.
So if you have 7/10 and you want to know if it's more than 1/2.....do a pie cut into 10 pieces. Most everyone understands what half means.
So to take half away and work with it for your answer you have 5/10
Break down the 5/10 by a number that both numerator & denominator are divisable by. 5 is the number.
5 divided by 5, is 1
10 divided by 5, is 2
That gives you 1/2
do the same with 7/10.....do a pie....cut into the same 10 slices.
Is there any number that 7 or 10 can be divided by evenly.....No! So if you have 10 slices....your finally analysis is:
If you give Person #1, 5 Pieces of pie
Or Person #2, 7 Piecs of pie
from the pie you cut into 10 sections
Which person would have the most pie.....?

1st question, yes the body is made up more water, since 7/10 is equal to 70%. And because 1/2 is only equal to 50%, and as 70% being bigger than 50%, explaining that 7/10 is bigger than 1/2.
2nd question. 1/8 is greater than 1/10 since 1/8 is a smaller fraction than 1/10. 1/10 has a bigger ratio than 1/8 since 1/10 is bigger than 1/8. But is less than 1/3 because 1/3 is a smaller fraction than 1/8. Sorry If I couldn't explain well =\.

To the first question the answer is yes. If you take the denominator and find a common one, which would be 10 in this case, you will see that 7/10 is greater.
1/2 times 5/5(which is one) equals 5/10.
7/10 > 5/10
In fractions, if the bottom number gets larger the number is smaller. ex. 1/10 > 1/20
If the number gets smaller then it is bigger.
ex. 1/5 < 1/3
So, using what we've learned,
1/3 > 1/8 >1/10

Question number one:
1/2 also means 5/10.
7/10 > 5/10
Hence more than 1/2 of the body is water.
Question number two:
i) to prove 1/8 is greater than 1/10
1/8 = 5/40
1/10 = 4/40
Therefore,
5/40 > 4/40
1/8 > 1/10
ii) To prove 1/8 is lesser than 1/3
1/8 = 3/24
1/3 = 8/24
3/24 < 8/24
1/8 < 1/3

1. Since 7/10 is greater then 1/2, the answer is yes.
2. Think of it this way, if you divide a pizza eight ways you will get more pizza then if you divide it 10 ways. But by dividing it three ways would give you the most pizza.

Yes.
7/10 = 0.7
1/2 = 0.5
So,
0.7 > 0.5 or .7 is more than .5
7/10 > 1/2
:::
1/8 = 0.125
1/10 = 0.1
1/3 = 0.3333...
So,
0.1 < 0.125 < 0.333.. or
1/10 less than 1/8 less than 1/3

7/10 > 1/2 ..............
7/10 = 0.70 while 1/2 = 0.50
so 0.70 is greater that 0.50
1/8 > 1/10 1/8 = 0.125 while 1/10 = 0.10
1/3 = 0.3333 so 1/3>1/8 ok? hope it helps
