Some of the ones that are made to stop sound pollution are big and tall and I think great for growing different types of Ivy.

I live in Metro-Detroit and that is exactly what they are trying to do. It looks pretty cool.

The only down side is that they are concerned about the effect of moisture on the walls over time.

The climbing ivy is hard on the wall. The vines will eat at the mortar. But it will take some time for that to happen and it will look better once the ivy gets a strong foothold. good luck

ivy is never a good idea on masonry...is this your wall? what is wrong with brick? you may have to check with the city or highway dept. if they are not your walls...
