I need to know why or why not preferably in detail because I am writing a lab report. Also if anyone could tell me of copper nitrate, lithium nitrate, calcium nitrate, potassium nitrate barium nitrate and sodium nitrate are metal ions

Flame tests would not be useful as they would only show the element with the higher wavelength.

No. some metallic ions make contributions very strongly to the colour of the flame, while others make contributions little or no. for occasion, the lilac of ok+ can not be seen whilst Na+ is contemporary, through bright yellow colour produced via a compound containing Na+ (till you leaf by blue glass.)
