no, b/c -1 1/4 is a mixed number and its less than one. and improper fractions can equal less than one. but this all depends if u guys are including negatives into this equation

Example: 1 1/2.
However, Sandra was not correct when she said that an improper fraction can be less than one. An improper fraction is a fraction where the absolute value of the numerator is greater than or equal to the absolute value of the denominator.

Improper fractions can not be less than 1 since the numerator is larger than the denominator.
