Why ask that question? Now it is a bad thing for a child in elementary school to date. Get with the program of life.

Of course. What kind of parents let an elementary aged kid go on a date? It might be the year 2007, but it's still horrible parenting if they do. They could shaparone you provided it's a school event, or some sort of event geared appropriately for children.

In elementary school they aren't even old enough to be thinking about that kind of stuff. How are they even affording to go on a date? It's understandable for groups of kids to get together - chaperoned!

I hope you aren't serious? Elementary school children should NOT be allowed to date. You are talking 6 to 12 year olds. Let them enjoy childhood as long as they can. It's time for dating when they are teen agers. Parents are pushing their children way too fast to grow up. If all parents stuck together on this issue it would be easier for those parents who don't approve to handle the situation.

Absolutely! They are in elementary school! Going out in a group with a parent sounds fine. Save all that for a few years!

When I was in elementry school my mom prohibited dating. I went behind her back just because she said i couldnt do it (forbidden fruit thing). But I think you should, but going out on dates, it shouldnt happen until about 6th grade and group dates are the way to go, drop them off as well that way you know where they are for sure

Your kidding right?

Kids use the phrase "going out" without even knowing what it means.

Ask your kids what they mean by dating and what it is they want to achieve by doing so and then go from there. You will find their version of dating is much different than ours.

yes it is, Did you hear the news recently where 4, 5th graders from New Orleans got expelled from school for having sex in the classroom while the teacher was out, look it up online...
I think they are way too young for that kinda stuff. they shouldn't worry about dating until high school. If you let them grow too quick you'll lose them quicker... Let them be kids.
Take them to the park instead of letting them go on a date.

How old are you? Of course it is stupid to let elementary kids go on dates, I assume you are talking about with the opposite sex. They should at least be in 10th grade.

It's not bad. And parents don't usually "let" it happen, the kids do these things themselves and the parents kinda just go with the flow. I don't think it's bad. It shows a sign that the child has good self esteem.
