My youngest son died from an asthma excerbation on May 4th, 1996 at 10 years of age. Prior to his sudden, unexpected passing, we had never discussed the issue. After the unsuccessful attempts of the doctors trying to revive him, the staff came immediately to us and posed this question. We looked at each other, and both agreed that we would sign the papers. We thought that if we had asked our baby this, he would've wanted it that way. Since that time, we have questioned our decision, but something that made us feel that we decided in the right way to do this, was receiving a letter from the eye donation organization, we found out that two individuals regained their eyesight with the help of our child.

Oh I would hope we could agree..the stress and sadness of losing my child would be more than I could bear..but I would want to have the organs donated. I would feel in my heart..that my child may help another child to live..that is a precious gift!!! If there was hope for the child who was on life support I am sure that the parents would pray another family would do so for them. So yes I would want to come to the agreement to donate.
What a unselfish act..and what a way to give love to our fellow man. I believe God would want this..some may disagree..but he allowed people to have the knowledge to be able to transplant organs...and he gave his sons life for our sins..so even in a religious debate...I feel yes...the Lord would smile upon the family.
If you or someone you know is going through all this...my deepest blessings and prayers.
Ciao

wow, quite a question. I would not pull the plug on someone unless they had told me at some point earlier that in that situation, that is what they want. Even then, it is still their choice. If they had told me not to, I wouldn't. But abortion I think deals with something else. It deals with a baby that can't voice its thoughts yet. Science has proven that blood is circulating through the baby a few seconds after conception which in turn makes it a human life. I also think that abortion is unnecessary unless it is a situation where both mother and baby will die without it, because there are thousands of families that cannot have children.

I like to believe that we both could agree to donate however no one knows how they are going to react until they are put in that situation.

Pull the plug , I know a guy with a new liver , I think knowing you did something good eases the pain of losing a loved one.

we'd come to an agreement. my husband works in the funeral element, and we know the importance and ramifications of such a situation. never an easy topic....
