When I was a kid, older people used to go on about how much hotter it was when they were kids.

It is totally unreliable to quote a freak weather pattern in one place at one time. There are freak weather patterns going on in different spots of the earth all the time, and they always have gone on. It is just now with global warming on the front page all the time, people click onto it when their weather turns freaky.

Yes, there is global warming, or has been. There has been global warming and cooling for ever. There is in fact evidence that the global warming episode we have experienced ended about 6 years ago. It is stable now, but there is also evidence that a plateau like now precedes a cooling.

Also, nobody really knows how much the Earth warmed in this period. A degree may not be bad - grow more stuff.

Basically, it has offered politicians an opportunity to gather votes (nobody gets votes by saying there's nothing to fight), and scientists an opportunity to get continuing big grants for their research.

Global warming is as real as talking to your best friend. I don't know about where you live, but last summer it was hot. I don't even remember a summer that was as hot as last summer. People that don't believe in Global Warming are just denying the truth and are scared to accept reality.
