I always wash my hands at home. HOWEVER, when I go to public restrooms, the only way I will wash my hands is if there are paper towels. I refuse to touch any surface in a public bathroom. So I will grab paper towels to lock the stall door, turn on water, pump soap, and open the outside door. If there is only an air dry machine, I will use my shirt in the bathroom stall, and walk right on by the sinks. Not touching those surfaces!! NO, NO NO NO NO!!!!! I dont care if people think it is nasty that I dont wash my hands, because I aint picking up even more germs in those bathrooms than what I already have! GROSS!

I'm not sure but I don't think men wash their hands too much. Some woman don't either. I've seen women in office and public restrooms who walk right out and don't wash their hands! After seeing that and washing my hands, I use a paper towel to open the door. Ewwww! I once saw a TV news show where they tested the candy mints in a bowl at the cashier counter of a restaurant. The test was positive for a large percentage of urine. Is that gross or what?

I always do i think it's how individuals have been brought up i always make sure that my kids wash their hands after going to the toilet and before eating just to keep the bugs at bay. I once worked with a woman who on my first day working with her showed me where the toilets were , She used the toilet came out and ran her hand under the tap she didn't wash them ,i thought she would wash them properly when we started to work she didn't and I've worked with her for over a year and I've still never seen her wash them and we should wear protective gloves she doesn't,We work for a large catering orgonisation in Scotland i have never eaten any of the food she makes and the management knows what she does

I think this habit has something to do with the persons upbringing. If the person had parents that did not teach their children about proper hygiene, they probably were not taught to wash their hands after bathrooming.

I know!...it is so nasty...it is unbelievable how many well put together people (look very educated) walk right out of public bathrooms and don't wash. We are so particular about that even at home. It just astounds me of the ignorance regarding this. I never touch the bathroom doors because of this. Always use my sleeve or paper towel. So nasty!

I wish I knew. I also wish I knew why they go see people in the hospital and touch everything and don't wash their hands before they leave, spreading disease as they go.

FYI, hand sanitizer is not good enough for after going to the bathroom. You need the friction and the rinsing.

They are lazy pigs! I've gotten so tired of seeing people walk out of RR w/o washing their hands so now I just tell them after they leave the RR & in front of people, "You didn't wash your hands after using the RR!!" I love to see them turn red w/ embarrassment!

Unless the restroom has automatic water faucets, I wont wash my hands in the public bathroom. Instead I opt for my own hand sanitizer that I always carry in my purse. I figure if I have to touch the faucets to turn off with my clean hands, I just contaminated them again. Some bathrooms are so dirty and disgusting, I just prefer to touch nothing at all!!! My hand sanitizer is in it's own pocket, and Ii feel my hands are their cleanest in that sort of circumstance.

I do. And then I use paper towel to open the door to leave because of the pigs you refer to!

Some people are pigs and have no sense of hygiene.
