Brainstorm with Natalie Wood. It was the first movie that I saw when we first got HBO in 84. That movie brings back memories. I'm glad you mentioned it, now I will rent it.

...why, you are referring to the 1983 sci-fi drama/intrigue film, "Brainstrom", starring Christopher Walken, Natalie Wood and Louis Fletcher.
...while initially doing moderately at the box office, the film garnished a following, due to the controversy regarding Natalie Wood, who died during the production of the film.
The film sat on the shelves for a year or two, due to have thought to be uncompletable, as a result of Wood's untimely death by drowning (controversy and conspiracy theories still linger, regarding this incident).
Director Douglas Trumbull finally decided to finish the film, by doing a measure of story rewrite, and film re-editing, utilizing cutting-room-floor footage of Wood, to strategically fill in the blanks, in an attempt to make the film sensible and complete.
Years later, a measure of the controversy re-emerged, when 20th Century Fox produced a similar-based, albeit futuristic film in 1995, entitled "Strange Days", starring Ralph Fiennes, Angela Bassett and Juliette Lewis, and directed by Kathryn Bigelow ("Near Dark", "Blue Steel" and "Point Break").
