Check out the customers if you catch my drift. Granted the food is cheap but everything has a cost.

When my kids were young they if they had good report cards they got to pick the restraint. It was ALWAYS the same.
Old Country Buffet. They loved it and we suffered through it. Although, they have a nice salad bar. My husband would eat lots of Cinnamon rolls.
I recently went on a cruise and they have buffet's all day long.
People seems to like it.
The difference is OCB charges a great deal if you eat small portions. I found it to be pricey for a family of 4- But, we could eat at Apple Bee's for $20- and the kids would split an order of chicken stripes. So-they probably make up the profit on families with kids.
Not to mention most of what they offer is not high end. Mashed potatoes, Pudding...rolls.

Because just like Golden Corral-fat people love buffet's. Fat people keep it open. I personally don't like old country buffet. I prefer a real restaurant where you order an entree off of a menu and get waited on. I don't need a buffet to graze on.
