Being a guy i probably shouldnt be here at this question but here goes anyways.
Your question is true with MANY things in life. So many things you would be suprised. Shoes for instance. Those $100 dollar Nikes probably roll off the same damn assembly line as the $10 K-mart specials over in Indonesia. TVs, VCRS, DVD players, they are made in factories-at the factory they get a order for say 1000 RCAs, they slap the RCA brand name on them, put them in RCA boxes. The next 1000 might be Sonys, they slap that name on them.
Alot of major companies producing the products we use dont actually produce their own products, they have third party suppliers that build the stuff. They just sell it.
This is even true with the automotive industry to a certain extent. You go out and buy a Honda for instance. Alot of the parts inside that car might not even be made by Honda, they might be made by what are called Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers that build parts for the major manufacturers. Myself for instance, i work for a company that builds all the heating and air conditioning systems for many cars that are being built today. We build them for Chrysler, GM, Ford, Honda, Jeep, Toyota and many others yet we are not owned by any of those companies.
I went into a long rant here-but my point is that name brand really doesnt mean much anymore these days.

It's true to a point. Yes the companies MAKE them, but they do not 'use' their proprietary formula (of how their name brand tampon is made). They alter it by so much of this or that, and then put it in a box labeled Generic X.
This is not true of prescription drugs. They are required by the FDA to use the same active ingredients that make the drug effective, no matter if it's made by the 'brand name' or not.

There is a difference between the generic brands and the name brands. Try them out for yourself. When I have heavy periods nothing but ALWAYS works, all the others leak through. They all are either shaped different or feel slightly different. And the way they absorb is different too. Usually the cheaper brands are stiffer and won't protect your clothing as well.

Yes, it is true that the companies that make the popular brands of pads and tampons also make the generic products. This same thing happens with items that we buy in the grocery store when it comes to many of the food and drink products that we buy.

Its true. Its actually true with most generic brands of anything including medication and foods. They cost less to make the less pretty labels, therefore cost less.
