I think it would be good for you to learn HOW to solve this in general.
Always MULTIPLY first!
for this problem:
1) first mltiply the terms in the paretheses by the 9 and the 5:
(9x +9) -(5x+5)
2) the "-" (minus) sign in front of the second paranthesis will change the signs of the terms, when you get rid of the paranthesis:
(9X+9) -5X-5
3) we have no minus sign in front of the first paranthesis, right? So nothing changes for those terms:
9x+9-5x-5
4) so answer is 4x+4

9(x+1)-5(x+1)
First, you would distribute the 9 to the x and 1.
9x+9-5(x+1)
Now, you would distribute the -5 (remember, subtracting a number is basically adding a negative number) to the x and the 1.
9x+9-5x-5
Now, you would combine like terms.
4x-4

9x + 9 - 5x - 5
= 4x + 4
Also known as 4 ( x + 1 ).
But, 4x + 4 is simplified enough.
But, if you're solving for x or whatever,
9 (x + 1) - 5 (x+1)
9x + 9 - 5x -5 = 0
4x + 4 = 0
4x = -4
x = -1

Most of these answers given are correct, but also remember that this is not an equation. It's just an expression since there's no = sign.
