I tried but every nanosecond that passes my evidence is relegated to history by a new existence in the present. A second ago I seemed to exist as I could acknowledge my physical existence.

Every day, as we sat down to the evening meal, my Beloved Scotch-Presbyterian grandmother would ask me, "What did you do to justify yourself today, Johnny?" I had to come up with some good deed or some work, mostly fictitious, before we could go on with the meal. I Think she knew that my answeres were pretty heavily seasoned with counterfeit material.

I hated that and though I loved my grandmother very, very much, I regretted this dimension of her world view. I always thought that if I gave her some horrific response, she would abandon the practice. In my imagination I used to picture her dropping her fork as I said, "Well, I laid cousin Betty Jane in the shed a while ago."

Mercifully for both of us, I restrained the impulse.

Justify that I am me? Justify things I've done or not done? Not really sure what you mean. Of course, I exist, so I don't have to justify that. As long as I'm able, (& have so far), to be true to my feelings, my moral compass, not to mention combined with logic, I have no reason to justify anything. I "justified" it at the start.

I have no need to. I do my best to be a good person and treat others as I would like to be treated. The only people that need to justify themselves are the ones who do evil. As you know, there is no justification for that.

You presume a SELF exists in your question. It does not, only mental and physical aggregates we collectively call "self" for the sake of conventionality. Can a feeling or a thought justify itself? Your question is just as futile as this one.
