I'm just wondering how many people out there support local music. I like seeing local shows b/c there is a lot of talent out there that no one has seen yet.

Definitely. If more people see the local bands, their productions get better. "The Birthday Massacre", "The Cranes", etc., all put on awesome multi-media shows. And now they pack the places where they play. It's because a lot of people go to see them, they make more money, and it all goes into the show.

Indie bands don't expect to make millions. They all have day jobs. They're all about the music and the performance and pleasing the fans. PAY THEM. BUY THEIR CD'S. BUY THEIR T-SHIRTS. It will pay off in the long run.

The big, corporate bands... they don't need you. They can put on a crappy show and they'll still get paid. And enough idiots will buy their music just because the DJ on the radio says they're "hot"... and you gotta get it, cause it's "hot". (And 90% of the time, the one song is good, the rest of the CD is lame.)

SUPPORT LOCAL BANDS!!!!

It's the only way we're ever going to hear the really good music that's out there.

I think local shows of less publicized bands are better.

The music is usually better because it hasn't yet been totally morphed by the media, press, and critism of big shots whose opinion could totally make or break a band.

Also... its more intimate and personal when you go to shows like that and you realise more that its all about appreciating the music and not just how cute the lead singer is and who he's going to marry next.

No doubt...supporting your local music scene is a good idea. There's many young aspiring artists/musicians out there workin very hard.

As opposed to those who have already made their mark, these up and comers are generally much more hungry for the success that hopefully will come their way.

Support live music!

I love going to see big name bands because I know their songs but I will go to see and support local bands because I'm in one and I'd want people to do the same for me and my band. Check us out @ myspace.com/incline07!!!

Well I'm not too familiar with my local scene so I really don't go see local bands. And it's rare for a big name band to play here, we get a few (Nickleback,Tool). But driving to Charlotte(90mi),Atlanta(150mi), Myrtle Beach or Charleston (200mi) is just too damn expensive to go see a band. So I don't go to either really.

SUPPORT LOCAL MUSIC!! gahh...screw "big name bands"! I'm not going to throw away money just for a name unless I'm actually a fan or it's something worth seeing.

I prefer bigger names since I know the performances are usually better. That being said, I sing at the "alarm clock table" (waking people up) at karaoke gigs and I meet small band people who are really talented. Maybe someday I will be that guy on the local band stage.

I love the local music scene here in Omaha (NE). Nearly every weekend there's a show. They're quite enjoyable (if not more so, in their own way) than any big name concert.
