Gas prices have caused everything to increase beyond anything reasonable. The price of gas has caused groceries to be unbelievably high. But look how much money our president and his big oil and big money backers are making. At least 1% of our population is prospering in unprecedented earnings. The rest of us just have to suck it up.

Aside to theorangeevil: Perhaps we could start with the obscene profits the oil companies are gouging out of us.

The current administration is allowing the oil companies to artificially regulate the price of oil and gas by buying their own futures. This was one of the focal points of the (secret) discussions between Cheney's energy task force and the oil execs in 2002. When the new administration arrives in 2009, you'll see an end to all this crap. Even if it's a Republican administration, I doubt that it will possibly be anywhere near as corrupt as the current one. I really hope a lot of people go to jail over this, but it might not even be illegal...

The Bush administration doesn't include energy prices in their inflation figures. That's their way of keeping cola's artificially low when it comes to raising the benefits of social security recipients. It's just another form of lying to the public.

Those of you blaming the President for high gasoline princes are proving yet again my long-held assertion that there has never been a liberal with a grasp of fundamental economics.

Oil is publicly traded. You can buy futures contracts if you wish. There is no way the price thereof can be manipulated.

If you want to cut gas prices, start with the taxes and environmental regulations. Democrat politicians sure like to whine about the big oil corporations, but you don't really hear them offer to suspend the tax on gasoline to temporarily alleviate costs until prices drop.

I don't think gas prices have ever been tied to inflation. They are manipulated by the oil companies to maximize profits.
