When doing an ethanol precipitation of DNA, does one use anhydrous or denatured ethanol? Thanks for any advice.

I Think Anhydrous Ethanol Will Gain a Little Water With Time On Exposure to Air, Not Denatured, Punctilious.

Does use denatured, it has junk added to it to "denature" it. Add 95% ethanol in the amount of 2.5 times the solution to be precipitated.

For example, if you have 1 mL of a DNA solution, add 2.5 mL of 95%. Helps if there are salts present to help in the precipitation.

I use denatured ethanol to precipitate DNA from strawberries. Works every time.
