2/5 +4/5 + 1/8= 16/40 +32/40 + 5/40 = 53/40 or 1 13/40
find the least common denominator and add up is all.

use 35 as the lcd
25/35+15/35+7/35=47/35= 1 12/35
2. 2/5+4/5+1/8=
use 40 as the lcd
16/40+32/40+5/40=53/40=1 13/40

I would combine the 7th first so you have
8/7 + 1/5
LCM of 7 and 5 is 35 so convert to 35ths
40/35 + 7/35
47/35 rewrite as mixed 1 12/35
Same thing for 2nd prob
7/5 + 1/8
LCM is 40
56/40 + 5/40
61/40 = 1 21/40
