Just wondering how Bush and Cheney could still be saying the US is making progress in Iraq.

depends on what you mean by faking them. If they took a bunch of footage and picked it apart, compiling all the chaos, as you put it, that they did have into a video and they edited out everything else they didnt want to show....
well... would you call that a fake video?

In fact, if anything, the media are under reporting the chaos - but you knew that anyway.
As for the second part of the question people only see and interpret what they want to see and interpret.
