Well

"Holy mother of crap. I'm pretty sure they pulled this fish straight out of my nightmares. If you ever feel like going for a swim in the Congo River make sure you bring along a gun. Or a, uh, bazooka. This thing looks like it could eat a bear."

pretty much sums it up!

I think it is overfeared? It is just a giant tigerfish with its jaw exposed..when it is swimming, it does not look that mean as the jaw would be mostly concealed.

There are many amazing fishes in the world and weird ones too like the Oarfish, ocean sunfish, guitarfish, etc...the list goes on..

It is interesting that many actually feared it rather then describe it as a beautiful specimen of its kind.

whoa!!!!!!!!!
If I could I would say a lot of inappropriate things about that! Its like a shark and a fish fused together. Its the result of a radioactive melt down if you ask me. Hope I never see such a thing alive. For the guy who said the fish is a tiger fish Ive have to agree. Its still one heck of a whopper for a tiger fish. Compare that fish to a neon tetra!

It is definately an African Tigerfish (monster size!). You might not know it, but there are times when local fish stores actually sell this fish. Last tuesday, i saw this fish being sold for $40 bucks (6-7" long).

I think I'm not planning on swimming in the Congo anytime soon.

For those wanting to know what this is, I believe the species is African tigerfish: http://www.billingsgazette.com/newdex.php?display=rednews/2005/06/02/build/outdoors/25-tigerfish.inc - this is a relative of tetras!

Yes, folks, you can buy these to keep in your home 900 gallon aquarium: http://forums.waterwolves.com/African-Tigerfish-t88605.html , http://www.aquariacentral.com/species/db.cgi?db=fresh&uid=default&ID=0572&view_records=1
